There is a lot to review with the H2 2020 Employee Central release, but two are new features addressing shortcomings and deserve to be mentioned as improvements:
Configurable New Hire
This is a long overdue improvement, a step towards providing HR teams a clean new hire UI, free of unnecessary clutter. By way of example, if a Brazilian new hire is expected to be entered with Brazil specific data within a custom MDF portlet – until now this portlet would also be presented unnecessarily during entry for all other new hires worldwide.
Additionally RBP is not honoured during new hire entry, so there was no real way to hide these fields from other users.
To create different new hire screens , you build them out modularly, by creating templates where you only include the blocks required for the locale (i.e. US, Brazil, German, Japan) and type of employment (Permanent, Fixed Term, Intern). You can create templates where you specify only the blocks needed for the type of employment you are hiring for – for example, a full-time employee in the United States or a fixed-term contractor in Germany would likely need different data requirements and blocks to capture this information.
This functionality also provides additional flexibility to the contingent worker hiring process – allowing companies to customize a block specific to contingent workers data upon entry.
Live Profile Data for Contingent Workers
Another improvement to the Contingent Worker functionality has also been to enable a custom block, Live Profile User Information to be used specifically for Contingent Workers – allowing more data to be added and edited by the HR Team via the UI, bringing the CW’s profile closer in appearance to an employees. Prior to this the data was able to loaded and stored, but only via the API.
